BISMARCK, N.D. – The North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) announced its final edition of the Football Players-of-the-Week honors Monday. Jordan Cooper of Waldorf (Iowa) was named to the Offensive Player-of-the-Week. Jerrod Williamson of Valley City State (N.D.) was selected as the Defensive Player-of-the-Week, while his teammate Nico Magana was named to the Special Teams Player-of-the-Week.
NSAA Football Defensive Player of the Week
Jerrod Williamson – Valley City State (N.D.) – 5’9″ – 180 lbs., Senior – defensive back – Upper Marlboro, Md. – Williamson broke up three passes and caught an interception in (RV) Valley City State (N.D.) 24-7 home victory over arch-rival Jamestown (N.D.). His fourth quarter interception set up a 25-yard touchdown pass that put the game out of reach at 24-0. Williamson also had five tackles in the game.
NSAA Football Special Teams Player of the Week
Nico Magana – Valley City State (N.D.) – 5’7″ – 255 lbs., Freshman – kicker – Chula Vista, Calif. – Magana converted a field goal and made all three PAT extra-point kicks in propelling (RV) Valley City State (N.D.) to a 24-7 season home opener over arch-rival Jamestown (N.D.). He averaged 55 yards per kick-off attempt, where the Jimmies’ average field position after those five kick-offs was their own 25-yard line. Magana hit a 20-yard field goal in the Vikings.
