JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown High School boy’s soccer team earned its second win of the season on Saturday afternoon as the Blue Jays defeated Williston 5-1.
Jamestown fell behind early after the Coyotes got on the board in the eighth minute when Rigo Rodas converted a penalty kick that ended up being the only goal of the match for Williston. In the 19th minute, the Blue Jays scored to tie it up at one on a goal from Jack Paulson, assisted by Brooks Roaldson. Jamestown would score two more times in the first half when Jarrett Zalumskis put his first goal of the match in the back of the net to put the Jays ahead in the 31st minute before Paulson got his second goal in the 36th.
The offensive onslaught continued in the second half with Zalumskis leading the way for Jamestown, scoring in the 42nd and 48th minute to complete the hat trick. Paulson and Zalumskis accounted for all five Blue Jay goals and Roaldson, as well as Cullen Bennet and Gabe Jenison had assists. Zalumskis now leads Jamestown with four goals this season.
The Blue Jays now hold a 2-2-0 overall record on the year and are currently tied with Legacy for fourth place in the WDA. Jamestown now travels to Bismarck Century on Tuesday night to face the Patriots at 7 pm. Century (2-0-1) is in third with seven points, trailing Bismarck High (2-0-2) and Minot (4-0-0) in the conference standings.
