VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The president and CEO of Missouri River Energy Services gave an update about future electrical rates to the Valley City Commission on August 17th.

Thomas Heller said another rate decrease is set for 2022.

He also talked about a future power supply project, proposed to be built in South Dakota, that will provide emergency energy usage to MRES customers.

Heller said that multi-billion-dollar project will take a few years to complete.

He also noted that Valley City has an average monthly residential usage cost per, 1,000 KWH, of $87.25. The lowest cost compared to many in the MRES service area. Heller said right now, Valley City’s power supply is 93 percent carbon free.
