Judy Ann Anderson was born on October 17, 1947 in Valley City, North Dakota, to Howard and Dorothy Jorgenson. She grew up working on the family farm Northeast of Valley City and attending school in Valley City, North Dakota where she graduated from College High in 1965. She studied nursing in Wahpeton, ND where she earned her License as a Practical Nurse in 1967. She married Gordon Anderson on April 20, 1968, in Valley City.
Judy worked at Mercy Hospital as a nurse primarily in the surgery department along with various other nursing positions. She was active in the ND LPN Association and served on the state board.
Judy’s children and grandchildren were her biggest passion in life. She loved sharing stories of their adventures hunting, fishing, and snowmobiling. She served as the State Treasurer for Snowmobile ND. She also loved to bake and host holiday and family gatherings in her home which always included a competitive card game of NUTS. Preparing for the big day with grandma was always as exciting as the event itself. No one ever left her home without some goodie in their hand.
Judy died at the age of 73 on Wednesday, August 18th at her home in Valley City.
Judy and Gordy raised two children, Tamie Anderson and Todd (Christie) Anderson of Valley City. Including her children, she is survived by six grandchildren: Logan, Cole (Jacee Lunde), and Riley Gerntholz, Alliya, Kassydee, and Zackary Anderson; one great grand-daughter Payton, soon to be born great-grandson Greysen; her sister Joyce Saji; brother-in-law Rick Anderson and several nieces and nephews.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Gordy, sister and brother-in-law Harriet and Jerome Johnson, father-in-law and mother-in-law Fritz and Berneice Anderson, sister-in-law Leila Hirschkorn and brother-in-law and sister- in- law Robert and Bonnie Anderson.
The funeral service will be at 10:30 am, Tuesday, August 24th at Connect Church of Valley City. Visitation will be 5-7pm Monday at the church with a prayer service at 7pm. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Valley City.
