Major Justin Blinsky talks to the Finance & Legal Committee about the SRO Contract
JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Finance & Legal Committee moved to approve the renewal of a contract between the city and Jamestown Public School District for a School Resource Officer (SRO).
Jamestown Mayor Dwaine Heinrich stated they would be looking to just renew the previous contract that has been in place before.
Assistant Jamestown Police Chief Justin Blinsky says everyone involved is in agreement with the previous contract.
Officer Kourtney Jeffery was introduced as the Jamestown SRO earlier this year. The motion was unanimously approved.
The committee later discussed Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding that was approved for the Jamestown Parks & Rec Department. The project requested $75,000 for removal of architectural barriers in Park Bathrooms.
Mayor Heinrich stated the $75,000 would combine with the already approved $200,000 in CARES Act Money approved earlier this year by the city for the project.
A public hearing is scheduled on September 7th to obtain citizen views and respond to questions regarding the proposal.
In other business, the committee discussed introducing an ordinance to modify the competitive bidding on certain contracts, approved job description for the position of Finance Administrative Assistant for the city, and discussed temporary alcohol permits.
