JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The North Dakota Department of Environmental Quality (NDDEQ) awarded four loans to three communities and a water district through the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF) Program in July.

-Coleharbor received a $700,000 loan to upgrade its pump station, replace an underground concrete reservoir and install new water meters. This project will ensure the system maintains consistent pressures during fluctuating usage and that water usage is accurately metered.

-East Central Regional Water District received a $1,372,000 DWSRF loan towards installing rural pipeline and associated appurtenances, including a pipeline from the Larimore water treatment plant. This project will allow the district to better meet existing water usage.

-Horace received a $2,740,000 loan for two projects which will replace old drinking water infrastructure, improve water distribution capabilities, and regionalize the city by connecting to Cass Rural Water District. These projects will allow the city to provide higher quality drinking water for residents.

-Jamestown was awarded a $1,808,000 loan to replace portions of the existing distribution system where leaks and breaks occurred. This will allow the city to provide safe water for its residents and reduce service interruptions.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency provides part of the DWSRF Program funding, which offers below-market interest rate loans to political subdivisions for financing projects authorized under the Safe Drinking Water Act. DWSRF programs operate nationwide to provide funding to maintain and improve the infrastructure that protects our vital water resources.

Loans are awarded to projects listed on the NDDEQ project priority list based on project eligibility and repayment ability. Please contact the NDDEQ regarding specific detail on any of the projects mentioned above.
