BISMARCK, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown boy’s soccer team suffered its first loss of the season on Thursday night as the Blue Jays fell to Bismarck Legacy by a final score of 2-1.
Legacy set the tone early in this match against Jamestown by scoring a goal just eight minutes into the first half off the foot of Ryker Zietz. Jamestown kept the Sabers off the board for the remainder of the first half, but another goal in the 60th minute put Legacy in front 2-0.
The Blue Jays would get their lone goal of the match during the 71st minute when senior Cullin Bennett buried a penalty kick to bring Jamestown within a goal. However, Legacy kept the Jays scoreless in the final 19 minutes to win its first game of the WDA season.
Jamestown sophomore goalkeeper Ryan Larson made five saves in net for the Blue Jays compared to Legacy goalie Nathaniel Olheiser who just had to make two saves. The Blue Jays drop to 1-1-0 overall on the year and will play their first home match on Tuesday against Minot at Rotary Field at 7:30 pm. Minot defeated Century 3-1 in its first match of the season on Thursday.
