GAME 1 (9 innings)
Valley City 5
West Fargo Aces 1
We were treated to a classic pitchers duel in the first game of the day at Jack Brown Stadium. Max Mehus was on his game early for the Royals. The right hander would end up going sixth and two thirds innings allowing just 1 run while striking out 1. The opposing pitcher Konnor Entz was equal to the task. The West Fargo righty went 6 innings allowing just 1 run and striking out 2. The Royals scored their first run in the second inning. Braxton Jorissen led off the inning with a walk and would later score thanks in part to a sacrifice fly from catcher Joe Cummings. The Aces would tie the game up in the sixth inning thanks to a fielder error by the Royals. Moving ahead to the top of the 9th inning that is when the Royals opened up the floodgates and would score 4 runs in the inning. With a runner on base, Devyn Thorton provided an RBI double to put the Royals in the lead. After a sac fly from Adam Bitz, Valley would push across another run in the extra frame. All in all they would score 4 runs in the top of the ninth. The Royals would get a shutdown bottom of the 9th inning from Ethan Miller on the mound to win the game 5 to 1.
GAME 2
Jamestown 8
Wahpeton 4
With their season on the line Jamestown started things off by scoring in the top of the first inning thanks to an RBI single from catcher Isaac Mimong. The Eagles would tack on another run in the second inning after a Mason Lunzman RBI single. After not scoring in the third inning, Jamestown would break the game open by scoring four runs in the top of the fourth inning. Once again it was the Jamestown catcher producing at the plate as Mimong brought in 2 more with a double. Starting pitcher Payton Hochhalter would help himself at the plate by bringing in a run with a single in the sixth inning. The Eagles would add on one more in the top of the seventh inning. It was a frustrating day at the play for Wahpeton as they only can produce 1 hit through the first five innings. In the sixth Isaac Loosmore blasted a solo home run over the fence in right center to give Post 20 their first run of the game. In the bottom of the seventh inning, Wahpeton would load the bases for Jordan Miller. Miller, the right handed batter drove a pitch to the opposite field to bring in 2 runs making it an 8 to 4 ball game. However it was not enough as Jamestown hung on to win and advance 8 to 4.
