GAME ONE
Garrison 8
Velva 0

In the first elimination game, Garrison shut out Velva 5-0. Garrison’s Seth Roedocker pitched a complete-game shutout. He scattered five Velva hits during the seven inning contest. Jack Bright led the offense for Garrison going 4-5, stealing two bases.  Bennet Kamp and Devon Crawford each added two hits apiece. Tace Pederson and Michael Thomas handled the pitching duties for Velva. Garrison hitters managed 12 hits in their win.
GAME TWO
Carrington 5
Mayville/Portland 4
In the second elimination game of the day,  Carrington held off a late Mayville/Portland surge to pull off a 5-4 win. Grady Shipman for Carrington went the distance for a complete-game win. Shipman limited MP to just four hits through the first five innings. MP would rally in the sixth, trailing 5-0 as they  rattled off five singles in the inning, but could only plate two runners. MP would put the pressure right back on Shipman and Carrington in the bottom of the seventh as they plated two more runs, and had the tying run on third with two outs.  Shipman ended the game on a called strike three and Carrington would celebrate as they move into Saturday play. Noah Paulson and Hudson Schmitz had two hits apiece for Carrington. Brandon Koenig started the game for MP. He was relieved by Lucas Fugleberg and Jake Hutter. Ethan Bergstrom, Kade Susie, and Jake Hutter each had two hits for MP.

GAME THREE
LaMoure 5
Langdon 4

In the first winner’s bracket semifinal, LaMoure was able to hold off a late-inning surge by Langdon as they held on to win 5-4. Langdon struck first with an RBI triple from right-fielder Tucker Welsh after LaMoure left the bases loaded in the second inning. LaMoure responded with four unanswered runs to take a 4-1 lead after the fifth inning. This was thanks to RBI singles from third baseman Anthony Hanson and second baseman Rory Gentzkow in the fourth inning and an RBI single from right-fielder Mac Bierman and a sac-fly from Hanson. Langdon was injected with new life thanks to a two-RBI single from second baseman Brady Regner in the top of the sixth to make it a 4-3 game. LaMoure designated hitter scored an insurance run via a wild pitch in the bottom of the inning to make it 5-3, but Langdon wasn’t going to go down without a fight. They were able to load the bases with no outs in the top of the seventh after starting pitcher Jace Hansen gave up back-to-back singles followed by a hit-by-pitch from Bierman who came in to close the game. Bierman was able to get a strikeout for the first out, but Langdon scored on a diving groundout with LaMoure’s first baseman Landon Piehl making a spectacular play that saved the game. Bierman was able to strike out the final batter to get the save and hang on for a final score of 5-4. LaMoure will play Oakes tomorrow in the winner’s bracket championship game at 4:00 p.m.

GAME FOUR
Oakes 6
Renville County 1

Oakes was able to win for the second night in a row as they defeated Renville County 6-1 in the second winner’s bracket semifinal. Oakes struck first in the bottom of the second two runs scoring by error off the bat of first baseman Jaidy Gebhardt. They were able to grow their lead in the third with two more runs on errors followed by an RBI single by Gebhardt. They got one more run in the fourth inning with an RBI single from left-fielder Steele Hansen. Renville City tried to respond late in the game as they scored a run in the fifth with an RBI double from centerfielder Gannon Hall. With the Muskrats rallying, Conor Schall came in the game in relief for the starting pitcher Fletcher Willprecht. Schall was able to get out of the jam and finish the game in the seventh. Shortstop Garret Meehl was 2-4 with two runs. Hansen was 2-3 with an RBI and a stolen base. Willprecht scored two runs to help his own cause. Third baseman Howie Neustel went 1-3 with a run. Gebhardt finished the day 1-3 with an RBI single. Oakes will play in the winner’s bracket championship game tomorrow at 4:00 p.m. against LaMoure.
