VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – It was a special night during the Music in the City Park in Valley City for the Ployhar family.
As part of the 25th year of Music in the City Park Bandshell, a number of individuals have been recognized all summer for their contributions to the arts and music in Valley City. One of those was the late James Ployhar, he was recognized for his many accomplishments in music throughout his life during the event on July 28th. He was a native of Valley City and a graduate of Valley City High School and Valley City State University.
A special guest was in the crowd, James Ployhar’s daughter, Carol Ployhar Houglum along with her husband Paul, from Perley, MN.
Event coordinator Diane Sommerfeld said it was a privilege to have her as well as the FM Golden Notes New Horizons Band performed a complete program of Ployhar music. She said following the program Carol shared some background stories about her father and his contributions to music in this community.
