DENHOFF, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – – Kerry and Brenda Dockter and Kyle and Kristi Jensen of the Dockter-Jensen Ranch, 2020 North Dakota Leopold Conservation Award® recipients, will be featured during the award tour from 1-5 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 25, at the Dockter-Jensen Ranch near Denhoff.

Tour topics include rotational grazing, crop rotation, no-till and cover crops, and erosion prevention.

The Aug. 25 tour is open to the public and dinner will be provided with a free will donation ($20 is appreciated). Tour participants are encouraged to dress appropriately for the weather and walking, and to bring water, bug spray and a blanket or chairs.

The Dockter-Jensen ranch sits in the heart of the Missouri Coteau (mixed-grass prairie) “Duck Factory” of Sheridan County. Kerry and Brenda Dockter along with their daughter Kristi Jensen, son-in-law Kyle Jensen and grandchildren operate a cow-calf operation near Denhoff. The family’s beef cattle ranch operates in a constant state of adaption and innovation, thanks to the careful observations, openness to new perspectives, and ability to work with researchers and nature. The family strives to enhance the landscape for future generations.

The North Dakota Leopold Conservation Award® honors North Dakota landowner achievement in voluntary stewardship and management of natural resources. The award is presented by the Sand County Foundation, in partnership with the North Dakota Grazing Lands Coalition, North Dakota Association of Soil Conservation Districts, North Dakota Stockmen’s Association, and American Farmland Trust.
