BOTTINEAU, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The LaMoure A’s bounce back after a tough loss on Saturday with a 7-0 win over the hosting Bottineau Diamond Slugs.

Starting pitcher Gunner Thielges was dominant in this one as he went six innings and shutout Bottineau while striking out four batters and only allowing three hits and one walk. He was awarded “Player of the Game” by the tournament committee.

The game got off to a weird start as Bottineau was able to threaten early thanks to a catcher’s interference to leadoff the top of the first. The Diamond Slugs’ shortstop Carson Haerer reached third with one out, but was stranded there after a flyout and a groundout to end the inning. After that, Bottineau wouldn’t have another runner in scoring position.

As for the LaMoure offense, after an opening round shutout loss, their bats rebounded as they were able to score two runs in the fourth inning as catcher Owen Lesko scored on a wild pitch and centerfielder Carter Bowman scored by stealing home. The A’s followed this up with five more runs in the fifth. With the bases loaded, right-fielder Dustin Ketterling hit a two-RBI single. Second baseman Blase Isaacson then hit an RBI single followed by back-to-back RBI walks by first baseman Jarin Ragan and third baseman Colby Thielges.

The LaMoure A’s survive and advance and will play tomorrow again at noon.
