WATFORD CITY, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The Post 14 Eagles claimed the West Region title on Saturday evening as Jamestown powered its way past Minot, winning 12-1 in five innings.
The Eagles used a massive third inning, scoring ten runs in the frame to cement their lead. Jamestown totaled seven hits in the third, including two triples, one from Isaac Mimong and the other by Jackson Walters. Walters continued his dominance at the plate in the West Region Tournament, driving in three runs while going 3-for-3 and scoring twice.
Mimong, Payton Hochhalter, and Gage Orr all picked up two RBIs in the game for Jamestown. Preston Kroeber had a pinch hit triple, totaling three triples for the Eagles in the game. Brooks Roaldson, Mason Lunzman, and Michael Mahoney each drove in one run.
As a team, the Eagles tallied 11 total hits and Minot committed four errors defensively. Starting pitcher Jacoby Nold earned the win, going three innings and striking out six while allowing just two walks. Lunzman and Kasen Rowell finished off the other two innings, combining for one strikeout and no hits allowed.
Jamestown will now be the #1 overall seed out of the West heading into the state tournament next week at Jack Brown Stadium. The tournament will be held from July 30-Aug 3 in Jamestown and the Eagles will face the #4 seed from the East to begin state.
