ENDERLIN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Day 4 of the Class B district 7 Legion baseball tournament came to a close as LaMoure comes away with the title.

The first game of the day started at 4pm, and saw a battle of one loss teams, Lisbon against Oakes. Lisbon would jump out to a 4-0 lead by scoring 1 in the first, 2 in the second, and 1 in the third. However the Oakes bats would come alive in the home half of the third inning as they would score 4 runs in the inning. Two of which came from a 2-run home run from left fielder Steele Hansen, and then a solo home run compliments of Alex Nelson.

The Oakes offense would not stop there as they would plate 4 more in the bottom of the fourth inning. They would also tack on 2 runs in the fifth. Lisbon tried to fight back in the seventh scoring a run, but then with 2 on and 1 out, Howie Neustel came in to pitch in relief of starter Garrett Meehl and threw one pitch to get a game ending double play to win 10 to 6 and advance to the finals against LaMoure.

On the mound, Wyatt Olson got the start for Lisbon and he went 5 plus innings and striking out 4 batters. For Oakes, Garrett Meehl got the start as the right hander went 6 and a third striking out 3.

The championship game featured a rematch from the night before between Oakes and LaMoure. Shortstop Corbin Potts got things started for the LaMoure ball club in the bottom of the first inning as he smashed a 2 run shot to centerfield. Oakes would battle back in the top of the 2nd to tie the game up at 2 a piece.

However that would be it for scoring for Oakes. In the bottom of the third inning LaMoure would take the lead for good by scoring 4 runs, James Sandness with the clutch single to bring in 2. LaMoure would add a pair in the fourth and one in the fifth inning to make it a 10-2 ball game. They would go on to win by that score and win the 2021 North Dakota Class B Legion Baseball District 7 Tournament.

On the mound Howie Neustel got the start for Oakes and pitched 3 innings while striking out 1. Connor Schall and Joey Heim would also pitch in relief. For LaMoure they got 6 great innings on the mound from righty Rory Gentzkow as he struck out 6 hitters this evening. Mac Bierman came on to work a scoreless 7th, striking out two of the three batters he would face to close out the win.

LaMoure captures the title in this tournament by not losing a game. They lead off the tournament with a big 20-2 win over Ellendale. They followed up that victory with a win over Lidgerwood/Hankinson 7-1. Wednesday night they handled Oakes 11-4, before winning the championship game over Oakes 10-2.
