VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Let’s Walk Valley City is a FREE event on Monday, July 19 from 5-8 pm. The event will offer fun activities at over 35 booths. The route is a one-mile walking path and attendees are invited to walk, run, bike, or rollerblading along the path. Dogs are welcome too!
This year’s event will feature live music throughout the route. Local musicians include Joe Demasi on guitar, Al Adams will play accordion, Ken Jiminez and friends will have an instrumental band, Tim Kadrmas will play guitar, Hannah Hager will also play guitar and Trevor Lane Kamstra will play at the City Park bandshell and offer lessons to adults and children who want to learn how to play the drums.
This year there will be a new focus…ART! Stephani Krueger, art instructor at Valley City High School will be challenging walkers to build a huge, 5 by 5 foot art chandelier. It will be sparkling in bright colors and in the style of the famous artist Chihuly, who does work with glass. After the LET’S WALK event it will be placed on display at Handy Hardware.
Hayden Swanson, of ‘Livin the Dream Pottery”, will have a booth and invite attendees to build a handmade pot on a pottery wheel.
The walking event will also offer delicious food that will be served along the entire path that includes City Park and the VCSU campus. Start the walk at any of the three registration tables which will be located at the City Park water fountain, the VCSU campus and the corner of 4th Ave. SW and Viking Drive.
