VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Jared Sleppy is our newest on-air sports personality and broadcaster in Oakes and Valley City. In addition to his on-air duties on KDDR 1220 AM and KOVC 1490 AM he has also joined the sales department team.

Jared Sleppy is from Wichita, Kansas and graduated from Kansas State University with a bachelor’s degree in digital media in 2020. While at K-State he racked up numerous awards including: First Place at the 2020 Kansas Association of Broadcasting Awards for his Complete Sports Feature along three runner-up submissions in the Play-by-Play category (2018-20). Jared was also a finalist at the national level at the Intercollegiate Broadcasting System Awards for play-by-play.

Before his time at K-State, he played golf for Coffeyville Community College for two years while working for KGGF AM radio.

In high school, Jared was captain of the golf team and won a leadership award for the cross country team at Sunrise Christian Academy in Bel Aire, Kansas.

He still enjoys playing golf on occasion and enjoys watching sports in his free time. “I have been watching sports ever since I was a little kid and I’ve loved it so much I wanted it to be a part of my career,” Jared said. “There’s hardly anything I love more than getting on the golf course with a group of buddies and just having a good time. I’m competitive, but I like to have fun first and foremost.” Jared also loves working out and fantasy football.

You can hear from KOVC 1490 AM from 3-6 p.m. on his afternoon show “The Drive Home” Monday through Friday and on Saturday from 6 a.m. to noon. You can also catch him on the “Tornado Morning Show” from 6 a.m.-10 a.m. on KDDR 1220 AM. He will also be doing play-by-play on those stations.
