JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The combined efforts of Jacoby Nold and Carson Orr on the mound Thursday night propelled the Post 14 Eagles to a 5-0 win over Minot’s Post 26 Metros.
Gage Orr was the sparkplug on offense for Jamestown, moving up from ninth in the order to fifth and going 2-for-3 with two runs driven in and a run scored. Connor Hoyt finished 1-for-1 with two walks and an RBI, and Brooks Roaldson brought in a run while going 1-for-2. As a team, Post 14 drew five total walks and was hit by pitches on three separate occasions.
Nold tossed four scoreless innings, striking out four and allowing just one hit. C. Orr pitched the final three innings in relief, picking up a save and getting two Metro batters to strike out. He also drove in a run at the plate. The Eagles had six total hits as a team and did not make an error defensively. Jamestown left seven total runners on base.
The offense exploded in game two for the Eagles, putting up 11 total runs to sweep Post 26 and win 11-0 in five innings. Hoyt earned the victory in game two for Jamestown, tossing five scoreless innings and striking out two.
Post 14 now holds a 14-0 record in the West Region and will play against Dickinson on Tuesday night for the final conference games at home this season. The Eagles will then host the Phil Brown Classic July 16-18, before heading to the West Region Tournament in Watford City July 21-25.
