JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Regional Airport is reporting a bounce back in boarding’s for 2021.

In 2020, North Dakota airports experienced a sharp decline in passenger numbers. Jamestown Airport Director Katie Hemmer says recently, they’re seeing a nice boost to their numbers heading into summer.

Hemmer says while final numbers aren’t known for June, they appear to be at pre-pandemic levels for the airport.

The airport continues to operate under President Biden’s mask mandate for airports and air travel through the month of June. Hemmer added that everyone who has flown through the airport has been very cooperative in that regard.

As more and more air travel continues, Hemmer says those who fly through the Jamestown Regional Airport in the month of August will see some temporary changes with flight times.

Hemmer expects travel times to be restored after the month of August for connecting flights in Denver, Colorado.

As far as airport improvements, she says the airport received roughly $2.2 million through the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) that will be used for taxiway rehabilitation. She expects project work to begin in August.

Hemmer thanked Senators John Hoeven and Kevin Cramer, Representative Kelly Armstrong, and the FAA for the investment in the airport.
