Valley City, ND NewsDakota.com) – West Fargo Aces come into Valley City and get a masterful outing by starting pitcher Carter Ohleen on their way to a 5 to 1 victory Tuesday evening.
Both Starters, Mitchell Taylor and Carter Ohleen had their best games going on as it was scoreless through the first three innings of the ball game. That’s when the Aces bats came alive. Konnor Entz lead off the inning by hitting one to shortstop Ethan Miller, who made a nice play on the ball but stumbled over himself allowing Entz to reach safely. The next batter Caleb Duerr would single as well. Trey Stocker would come to the plate looking to do some damage and that is what he would do. Stocker roped one into the left center gap for a 2 RBI double and to give West Fargo the first lead of the ball game. In the top of the fifth, starting pitcher Carter Ohleen lead off by getting a bunt single. after a couple more Aces singles their lead was 3 to 1, and then Trey Stocker once again driving in a pair with a double to swell the West Fargo lead to 5 to 1.
Aces starter Carter Ohleen did whatever he wanted to on the mound tonight. However his one off inning came in the bottom of the 4th. He walked two batters and hit another 2 in that inning but the Royals could only muster up 1 run in the inning. A bad base running mistake killed any momentum Valley City had going, as one of their base runners was thrown out trying to go from first to third on a hit to left field.
The story of the game has to be Carter Ohleen. The young man of West Fargo went the full 7 innings, giving up only 3 hits, 1 run, and striking out an incredible 12 batters to pick up the victory. Mitchell Taylor’s day should not be overshadowed for the Royals as he went 5 innings giving up 5 runs (3 earned) and he struck out 5 batters.
Valley City will be in action on Thursday on the road in Fargo.
