CARRINGTON, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Snakes and spiders and bugs oh my.

Area snake and critter enthusiasts will return to the Carrington City Park this Saturday, July 10th and bring with them their precious pets for the public to see.

Snake Day in the Park was first held in 2020 at the park. Jennifer Weber, local snake enthusiast, says she had the original idea for the event.

Weber estimates they had more than 200 people come through to meet their geckos, spiders, cockroaches, snakes, scorpions, and more.

Russell Keys teamed up with Weber to put on the day in 2020 and returns this year.

Weber says this year, they’ve invited others to participate in the event. They’ll be bringing spiders, leopard geckos, bearded dragons, and ball pythons.

Keys says because having snakes as pets is still rather uncommon, they’re typically grouped with arachnid pet owners. That’s why those who come to the event will see a mix of both.

During the event, you’ll have a chance to pet and hold a snake while admiring the other critters in a safe atmosphere.

The event is free and open to the public from 10 AM to 8 PM at the Carrington City Park.
