JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – While COVID-19 has tapered off across much of the state, members of the Jamestown City Council are still encouraging residents to get vaccinated.
According to the North Dakota Department of Health, cases have stayed the same and are low. Of the 21,064 residents, roughly 8,373 have been fully vaccinated, or 39.75% of the Stutsman County population.
Councilman David Steele took some time Tuesday to encourage residents to get vaccinated.
He said doing so may help allow residents to live their life as normal as possible as cases in other states including Florida and Colorado are experiencing an uptick in cases.
Mayor Dwaine Heinrich echoed Steele’s encouragement.
In other city business, the council gave approval for preliminary engineering reimbursement agreement for Highway 20 along 1st Avenue N to 12th Avenue NE for Mill & Overlay as well as paid the final installment to the North Dakota Department of Transportation for the 2019-2020 Safe Routes to School Project in the amount of $3,427.29.
Councilman Dan Buchanan was not present at the meeting.
