ENDERLIN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Three people were injured in a two vehicle crash on Highway 46 in east Enderlin Wednesday evening.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol reports a 2014 Chevrolet Traverse was traveling eastbound on Highway 46 leaving Enderlin and a 2014 Chevrolet Impala was traveling westbound just before 6:30 PM. The driver of the Impala reportedly fell asleep and drifted over the center line.

The driver of the Traverse steered right to avoid a head-on collision. The front of the vehicle struck the left rear corner of the Traverse, which came to rest in the south ditch. The Impala continued through the Enderlin Veterinary Clinic parking lot before striking a dumpster and then a group of trees.

Impala driver Jeanne Eskelson, 72, of Enderlin was cited for failure to maintain control. She received non-life threatening injuries and was not wearing a seat belt. Traverse driver Brooke Sandvig, 42, of Enderlin received minor injuries. One passenger was uninjured and an 11 year-old juvenile in a child restraint received minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
