JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Several Jamestown committees met Tuesday including Finance & Legal, Building, Planning & Zoning, and Civic Center & Promotion Committee.

The Finance & Legal Committee heard a request from the Jamestown/Stutsman Development Corporation (JSDC) to fund the 2021 Flex PACE program up to $1 million at a city share of $576,000.

JSDC Business Development Director Corry Shevlin.

A motion was unanimously made to approve the request. Mayor Dwaine Heinrich was not present.

Later, the committee approved to deobligate funding from the Airport Park Development in the amount of $424,007.15. Shevlin says the money was an overage after the project came in under budget. The committee unanimously approved the request.

The committee also moved to approve the placement of banners from the Jamestown Chamber of Commerce Beautification Committee along Mill Hill.

Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Emily Bivens approached the committee with the request.

Bivens says the banners have two different designs and they will alternate down the hill to welcome people to Jamestown and Stutsman County. The committee approved to back the project.

The committee also approved an upgrade to the City Hall audio and video system and an agreement with Airborne Custom Spraying for mosquito spraying.

In the Building, Planning & Zoning Committee, Owner Nicole Stevahn with Charge on Together Childcare in Jamestown approached to request a change to Group 30 status for their daycare.

To meet the requirements, Stevahn stated they would need a door into the basement and pulldown stations for the fire alarms upstairs and downstairs. This would increase capacity for the daycare. No motion was necessary and Stevahn would work with the city staff to make the change.

In the Civic Center & Promotion Committee, Jamestown Tourism Director Searle Swedlund approached to ask for permission to build the parkettes at Frontier Village.

The plans were unanimously approved by the committee.
