JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Over 100 participants from across the country are embarking on a historic, 95 mile journey this week while embracing the pioneer lifestyle.
The annual Fort Seward Wagon Train has run for the last 50 years, taking its participants on a trip through the region’s history. Fort Seward Wagon Train Board President Lacey Kaiser says they have many new participants this year ranging in age from 6 months-old to 86 years-old.
There are some returning adventurers, such as Fran Hailey of Deer Park, Washington who joins the wagon train once again for her 11th year.
Emily Wilson of Overland Park, Kansas is new to the Wagon Train, but her Civil War and westward expansion studies brought her to the experience.
Mother-daughter duo Amelia and Bonnie Buxton from Campbellsport, Wisconsin say an interest in “Little House on the Prairie” and had heard about the trip from a family friend.
Bonnie added this is a new experience for her and her children.
Participants will be walking and riding along the trail over the course of the week while hearing stories of the region, living life like a pioneer, and sharing the experience of a lifetime.
