CARRINGTON, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Both the Legion and Babe Ruth teams for Carrington were in action on Monday at Carrington City Park, here are the results:

LEGION: Carrington 12  New Rockford 11, 8 innings

Post 25 was down 11-3 after three innings, but kept chipping away at the lead, they scored two runs in the fifth, two in the sixth and four in the bottom of the seventh to send it to extras. Hudson Schmitz would come to the plate in the bottom of the eighth inning with the score tied at 11. He would hit a single past the third basemen for his first hit of the game, knocking in Noah Paulson for the game winner. Carrington improves to 4-0 overall and 4-0 in District 4, New Rockford suffers their first loss of the season, now 8-1 overall and 2-1 in the district.

At the plate for Carrington, Lucas Hendrickson had three hits including two singles and a double and knocked in one. Paulson had three hits as well, all singles. Ethan Buskness hit his first homerun of the season in the sixth. Connor Knatterud had three hits for Post 30, all singles.

Next up for Carrington Post 25 will be on Tuesday in Jamestown, Thunder Country 98.3 will have the game at 1pm.

BABE RUTH: Carrington 11 Linton/Ashley/Wishek 1, 5 innings

The Redbirds bats remained hot and their defense turned two double plays to help them improve to 4-1 in District 6 play with a win over the Rattlers of LAW on Monday evening. The Redbirds have scored 77 runs in their first six games of the season, averaging almost 13 runs per game. The Rattlers drop to 1-5 in D6 and 6-7 overall, the Redbirds are now 5-1 overall.

Grady Shipman picks up the victory on the mound, working all five innings, 67 pitches, one earned run, eight strikeouts, five hits and one walk. Shipman was 3-for-3 at the plate, scoring three times, two RBI, two singles and a double. Connor Kosiak suffers the loss.

Next up for Carrington Redbirds will be on Tuesday in Carrington against Casselton.
