JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Dakota Anglers held the 44th Annual Walleye/Northern tournament on June 5th and 6th at the Jamestown Reservoir.
Below is a recap and scores from the event:
Lower than usual water conditions combined with HOT temps and strong Sunday winds proved to be no match for our field of anglers. The Jamestown Reservoir had many healthy fish to offer and livewell pumps were busy. Consistency, as always, was a big determining factor and we saw a strong number of walleye and northern pike limits hit the scales. The top five teams combined to weigh every fish of their limits except one! (79 of 80 fish)
Results are as follows: (place, prize, name, point total)
1. ($1500) Casey Dodgson and Logan Clark (417.04)
The number one duo has a couple of familiar faces, and they did not disappoint. Tying for largest Walleye on both Saturday and Sunday at 4.52 lbs and 3.86 lbs respectively and adding a goliath 18.85 lbs Northern Pike on Saturday, these guys were locked in. WOW! Adding 132.24 points to their Saturday lead cemented them in as BACK-TO-BACK CHAMPIONS!
2. ($1200) Bob Rosemore and Alec Rosemore (340.40)
Saturday’s fifth place team tackled the tough wind with ease and improved on their score. Boating a nice Sunday limit (174.56 points) launched the tandem into the top two!
3. ($900) Chad Altringer and Landon Becker (335.04)
Finishing third, Chad and Landon, showed up ready to fish! With a Saturday tie for largest Walleye (4.52 lbs) and sole possession of Largest Sunday Gator (12.46 lbs), they trailed our second place finishers by less than a pound in total weight.
4. ($700) Alex McInnes and Ben Norquist (293.68)
This duo adjusted for day two and improved their score by 70 points from Saturday to Sunday. Filling their livewell with limits each day, they jumped from Ninth to finish Fourth overall!
5. ($600) Carey Nagel and Adrien Nagel (292.00)
Our first father/son duo had the walleyes dialed in and boasted a tournament best 20.39 lbs. An impressive mark considering they didn’t make the cut for largest walleye either day! Missing one Pike from their Sunday limit pushed the third place Saturday team down a couple spots, but they finished strong in the top five!
6. ($500) Zach Butler and Eric Perleberg (262.96)
Ranking second following Saturday, Eric and Zach were hoping for more of the same. Unfortunately after catching 3 nice walleyes early the fish stopped cooperating and they saw their championship hopes swim away. A solid sixth place finish for team #28 will have them hungry for next year!
7. ($400) Rod Lux and Kaleb Lux (245.87)
Father/son tandem, Rod and Kaleb, finished just one fish shy of their two-day limit. That last fish will haunt Saturday’s fourth place team as it put them on the wrong side of the top ten shuffle. Nevertheless, a strong showing on both days and a nice seventh place finish!
8. ($200) Ryan Widmer and Dustin Kleingartner (241.60)
Netting a quality Walleye on Sunday was all the difference team #19 needed to leap into the top 10. Coaxing a bite out of a dandy 3.86 lbs greenback netted them a tie for the Largest Sunday Walleye. Two consistent days of fishing paid off as they were able to cash a check!
