JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Residents and visitors of Jamestown are getting a sneak peak of what the finished Road Diet construction project will look like along 1st Avenue.
Work started in April with storm sewer work, traffic light removal, and electricity. Ti-Zack Concrete Inc. Spokesman Chris Hartwig says they’re nearing completion of concrete pouring for the project.
Hartwig says this week, they’ll look to finish pouring at the intersection of 3rd Street so they can finish the light poles and install all the landscape features. Bumpouts have also taken shape and have city-themed trashcans and benches installed. Hartwig added this is a preview of what the finished product will look like.
Hartwig stated the traffic lights at the 3rd Street and 1st Avenue intersection should be operable soon.
With continued weather conditions and progress moving forward quickly, Hartwig stated they would hope to be finished with concrete work soon. He pointed out there were still some details that would need to be addressed, but says it appears they could be done in July.
Hartwig added they’re appreciative of everyone’s patience during the work.
Once construction is complete, 1st Avenue through Jamestown will have have bump-outs at each intersection, a two-lane roadway with a dedicated left-turn lane, and flashing beacons to help pedestrians cross at 5th Street South, 2nd Street South, 3rd Street North, and 4th Avenue Northwest.
