CARRINGTON, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The Carrington Babe Ruth Baseball team hosted Steele on Tuesday afternoon for a couple of district games, the second game was a makeup from last week that was postponed due to wet field conditions in Steele, here are the results:
Game 1 – Carrington 22 Steele 1, 15-run mercy rule, 3 1/2 innings
The Redbirds sent 12 batters to the plate in the bottom of the first inning and 17 batters to the plate in the bottom of the third inning and win in a commanding way 22-1 over Steele. Every batter for the Redbirds had at least one hit, Corbin Clifton had three singles, three RBI and scored once. Grady Shipman picks up the victory on the mound, working three and a third, 72 pitches no runs. Trey Silvernagel suffers the loss working two innings.
Game 2 – Steele 8 Carrington 6
The Redbirds led 6-2 heading into the bottom of the sixth inning, but Steele poured on the runs and scored six to take the lead 8-6 and they hold the Redbirds scoreless in the top of the seventh for the victory. Isaiah Oster picks up the victory, working all seven innings, 97 pitches, three earned runs, six strikeouts and seven hits. Jacob Page suffers the loss. Collin Zimmerman scored three times for Steele and had a single. Grady Shipman had a double and triple and an RBI for Carrington. The Redbirds are now 2-1 in district play and 2-1 overall, Steele is now 1-3 in district play.
Next up for the Carrington Redbirds will be Thursday in Lamoure for another District 6 contest against the defending state champs, KDAK will have the coverage starting about 450pm pregame, 5pm first pitch.
