JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Game & Fish Wildlife Biologist Doug Leier says the best bait you can use can be found right here in North Dakota.
The North Dakota Game & Fish Department reminds anglers that it is illegal to import minnows and other forms of live aquatic bait, such as leeches and frogs, into North Dakota.
Bait vendors can properly identify species and ensure all bait is clean of any aquatic nuisance species.
For more information, refer to the 2020-22 North Dakota Fishing Guide, available at license vendors or online at the state Game and Fish Department website, gf.nd.gov.
Leier says their website also features different Aquatic Nuisance Species (ANS) rules for surrounding states if you plan to travel and do some fishing.
With temperatures remaining warm and high activity, Leier says the best bet is to go into the deeper water to get bites.
You can listen to Doug Leier every Thursday with JD in the Morning on Big Dog 95.5 FM at 7:35 AM.
