MANDAN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown High School softball team wrapped up its season in the Class A State Softball Tournament with a pair of consolation games Friday and Saturday to take sixth place for 2021.

Jamestown bested West Fargo Sheyenne for the second time this season, 12-6, in the first game of the consolation bracket on Friday. The Blue Jays put up 17 total hits and four total home runs in the victory over the Mustangs.

Ella Roaldson, Jenna Fischer, and Katie Falk all homered for the Jays, with Falk going long twice. Falk, a soon to be junior, went all seven innings in the circle, striking out eight while allowing just three earned runs. Roaldson finished the day 3-for-4 with five runs driven in.

In the fifth place game on Saturday in Mandan, West Fargo outlasted Jamestown in an eight inning game, 10-9. The Jays put up five runs in the seventh inning to take an 8-4 lead on, but the Packers responded with four runs to force extras.

Falk and Fischer each homered again for Jamestown in the fifth place game, and Fischer finished the Class A State Tournament with a home run in each game played. Payton Gall gave up eight runs while pitching in the fifth place game, but only three were earned. She also had seven strikeouts. Junior Alyssa Gange finished the day 1-for-4 with two RBIs.

Jamestown wraps up the season with a 21-12 overall record and a sixth place finish in Class A. The Jays fourth place finish in the WDA was the best in school history, and Jamestown reached the state tournament for the first time since 2016.
