LAMOURE, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) –
Nine girls took part in the Babysitter’s Safety Day on Thursday, June 3rd at the Emergency Response Center in LaMoure.

The students learned their most important job as a babysitter is to keep the children safe. They practiced CPR and the Heimlich Maneuver for a child and infant, learned basic first aid, fire safety, and personal safety. The students also had an opportunity to practice age appropriate, fun, and safe activities they could do while babysitting such as making homemade playdoh, healthy snacks, art projects, singing interactive songs, and reading stories.

To end the class, Amanda Meidinger and her staff at Little Cubs Daycare invited the babysitters to play with the children at daycare, as well as provide them with an opportunity to practice important care giver skills such as diaper changing, bottle feeding, and the proper way to hold children of various ages.

The class was instructed by Kelli Just and Katrina Just with Community Volunteer EMS of LaMoure (first aid, choking emergencies, CPR, and projects), Art Hagebok with LaMoure Fire Department (fire safety), and Dominic Hanson with LaMoure Police Department (personal safety).
