Runners participate in the 2019 Bunny Hop and Rabbit Run
JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – After a cancellation in 2020 and postponement in 2021, the Safe Shelter’s Annual Rabbit Run and Bunny Hop is set for June 19th.
The event was formed to raise funds for Mary’s Place, a part of Safe Shelter that provides a safe haven for victims of domestic abuse and violence.
Lynne Tally is the Executive Director for Safe Shelter. She says operating as a non-profit, they rely on fundraisers, grants, and donations to continue their mission.
She says the run and walk event is typically held in April to coincide with Easter, but was moved to allow more time for the pandemic to subside.
The event will be a 5K for the more serious runners and a more leisurely event for others. Tally says they’ve also include a virtual portion of the race so others can participate wherever they’d like.
Tally says they also encourage runners to dress up. All funds raised will be used for Mary’s Place in Jamestown.
The registration cost for both the Rabbit Run and the Bunny Hop is $25 for adults (12 and over) and $5 for children (under 12).
To register, text MPRUN21 to 41444, or click here, or go to www.SafeShelterJamestown.org. The run will begin at 9 AM Saturday, June 19th from the Harold Newman Arena on the University of Jamestown Campus.
