VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Here are the results from the 25th Annual Sheyenne Valley Soapbox Derby held on Saturday, June 5th in Valley City.

There were two divisions, Stock and Superstock.

Each division had 16 cars competing for a total of 32 competitors.

Winners were:

Stock – car #170 driven by Rylee Berg, age 8, of Valley City, sponsored by John Deere Seeding.

Superstock – car #249 driven by Veronica Remick, age 13, of Valley City, sponsored by the Valley City Lions Club.

Other awards:

Driver’s Choice Award given to one car in each division, voted on by soapbox derby officials:
Stock: car #164 driven by Taylor Fiedler, age 12, of Valley City, sponsored by Sheyenne Valley Friends of Animals.
Superstock: car #255 driven by Sophia Hansen, age 11, of Valley City, sponsored by Barnes County Ambulance.

Lloyd Miller Sportsmanship Award: Conner Remick. Conner was actively involved with set up, race operations, and cleanup. This is a new award in honor of Lloyd Miller. Lloyd has been involved with Soapbox Derby since its start in Valley City 25 years ago, being the master starter for all the races, helping in the pits, and assisting anywhere he was needed. The recipient of this award can be a driver, worker, or official.

Congratulations to Rylee Berg and Veronica Remick, they now get a chance to compete in the International Soapbox Derby next month in Akron, Ohio. Good Luck!
