(NewsDakota.com) The Loboes of Lamoure/Litchville/Marion used a big second inning scoring seven runs to take the lead over the Bearcats of North Star in the State Class B Baseball quarterfinals Thursday afternoon at Jack Brown Stadium and go on to get the victory 11-4. LLM improves to 17-2 overall, NS drops to 10-3 overall.
Four batters had two hits each for the Loboes, Tate Mart, Landon Piehl, Garrett Hebl and Colton Ness. James Sandness knocked in three runs and Mart, Connor Johnson and Piehl had two RBI’s each. Mart hit a two-RBI triple, his first triple of the year in the bottom of the fifth inning. Piehl picks up the victory on the mound, working six innings, 87 pitches, three earned runs, eight strikeouts, one walk, improving to 6-1 on the year. Dane Hagler suffers the loss, working an inning and a third, 43 pitches, six earned runs.
LLM will advance to the semifinal on Friday afternoon at 430pm to take on Renville County, as the Muskrats knocked off the number two seed in the tournament, Central Cass 7-3 in the first game on Thursday. Thunder Country 98.3 will broadcast the game starting about 420pm pregame on Friday.
