JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – AAA expects a significant rebound in those traveling this Memorial Day holiday weekend with more than 37 million traveling 50 miles or more through May 31st.

For those who don’t want to stray far, Jamestown Tourism Executive Director Searle Swedlund says nothing can beat the sites and sounds of local.

While tourism’s focus is making a positive economic impact and promoting what Jamestown has to offer, Swedlund says there’s nothing stopping locals from enjoying what they have in their own backyard.

Those wanting to know what’s happening locally can visit jamestowncalendar.com, a site of community contributions of events and features. Swedlund pointed out they rely on the public to keep the calendar full and those interested informed.

Swedlund said for those staying put for the weekend or has family coming into town, there will be plenty to see and do with multiple historic sites and events opening up.
