MINOT, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – Jamestown’s seventh inning rally came up a little short on Friday night in the Magic City as the Blue Jays fell to Dickinson 8-4 in the WDA semifinals.

Jamestown got on the board in the top of the first inning when Ella Roaldson blasted a solo shot over the left field fence. The Jays held a 1-0 lead until the bottom of the second when Dickinson scored three to take a 3-1 advantage.

The Midgets tacked on two more runs in both the third and fourth innings, and one additional run in the sixth to go ahead 8-1 entering the final frame. With one down, Roaldson singled and was immediately followed up by a two-run blast by Jenna Fischer to bring Jamestown within five.

The Jays would tally three more hits in the inning, including a two out RBI single by Addi Douty to put Jamestown down just four, but Dickinson was able to shut the door before Jamestown could get back to the top of the order.

Jamestown tallied seven total hits on the evening, with Roaldson and Katie Falk each going 2-for-3 and Roaldson scoring twice. Payton Gall went 3.2 innings in the circle, giving up seven runs, six of which were earned. Falk finished out the game allowing one unearned run. The Blue Jays committed four errors defensively on the evening.

A quick turnaround puts Jamestown in a state qualifier tomorrow at 11 am in Minot against Mandan. The Braves come in following a 9-2 victory over Legacy in a loser-out game, and the winner will likely represent the West as the #4 seed in the state tournament beginning on June 3rd in Mandan.
