WASHINGTON, D.C. (NAFB) – Level biofuel blending mandates for this year and next would disappoint the ethanol industry, but a top corn state Republican sees less of a problem if biofuel waivers are curtailed.
Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley says if a story by Reuters is true that the Biden EPA won’t expand Renewable Fuel blending requirements due to the pandemic, the best outcome is ending ethanol waivers.
Grassley meantime, is introducing an extension of the Biodiesel tax credit that also expires next year.
Grassley says extending the credit will give producers confidence to invest in plants and workers, while he says biodiesel has shown to be 74 percent less carbon-intensive than oil-based diesel.
