VALLEY CITY, ND (newsdakota.com) –  A few showers didn’t rain on Valley City’s hit parade as they poured on the offense to defeat Fargo South 12-2 in the quarterfinal round of the East Region Tournament.

Senior pitcher Hailey Schaefer once again stole the show as she struck out 12 batters in six innings, allowing just three walks and three hits. At the plate, she was a triple away from the cycle, including a deep ball to left field for a home-run in the fifth inning.

The Hi-Liners had nine walks and were able to drive those runners in which led to a quick game that was done in six innings.

Valley City will play next on Friday at 5:00 p.m. between the winner of 3-seeded West Fargo Sheyenne and 6-seeded Grand Forks Central.
