JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A mild winter allowed crews to complete major work on the Two Rivers Activity Center Splash Park to prepare it for a pre-summer opening.

Bids totaling $1.4 million for the project were approved by Jamestown Parks & Recreation in July 2020 and work began immediately. Covered entirely by a grant and lead donation by Shirley Meidinger, TRAC Facilities Manager Amy Walters says they are looking at an end of May completion date.

Walters says the Meidinger Splash Park was funded entirely by grants and donations and has been built without tax money.

She says they’ll be holding a Splash Bash on June 5th to celebrate the new splash pad in Jamestown.

Walters says there will be a three-on-three basketball tournament, food vendors, kids games, events, and local musicians in the evening.

While the facility will be fully built and operational, Walters says they’re still welcoming donations to help fund the estimated $2.3 million project. She says they’ll accept event sponsors and are continually seeking fundraising opportunities.
