TOLNA, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The first day of the 2021 Class B Region 3 High School Baseball tournament was held in Tolna  on Monday with four games, here are the results:

No. 1 Lamoure/Litchville/Marion 3  No. 5 Sheyenne/New Rockford 2

Both starting pitchers for the Loboes and Blacksox pitched scoreless ball through six innings. In the top of the seventh inning, SNR would score two runs to take a 2-0 lead heading into the bottom of the seventh inning. LLM would send eight batters to the plate in the bottom of the seventh off of starting pitcher Alex Harrison and score three runs. After scoring two runs and with the bases loaded, Anthony Hanson would get hit by Harrison scoring James Sandness for the walk-off win. Landon Piehl worked six innings on 81 pitches, Hanson worked an inning in relief throwing 23 pitches. Harrison worked six and two-thirds and 75 pitches. Harrison and Kovan Wolford had two hits each for SNR, Tate Mart and Connor Johnson had two hits each for LLM. LLM improves to 14-1 overall, SNR drops to 9-10 overall.

No. 2 Carrington 8  No. 3 Kidder County 7, 8 innings

The Cardinals led 7-2 after five innings, but the Wolves would chip away at the lead, scoring two runs in the top of the sixth, three in the top of the seventh and tie the contest at seven and send the game into extra’s. Carrington would load the bases in the home half of the eighth inning, Ethan Buskness walked scoring Josh Bickett for the walk-off victory. The Cardinals used three pitchers, Lucas Hendrickson worked five and two-thirds on 124 pitches, Hudson Schmitz worked a third of an inning and Grady Shipman two innings. Blake Braun started for the Wolves, working five innings and 82 pitches, Jace Larson threw two innings. Shipman had three hits for Carrington, scored twice and an RBI. Jayden Rath, Blake Pfaff, Grant Pfaff each had two hits for KC. Carrington improves to 10-7 overall, KC drops to 8-11 overall.

No. 5 Sheyenne/New Rockford 10 No. 6 South Border 8

A big seven-run fourth inning provided a bulk of the offense for the Black Sox as Sheyenne/New Rockford would tally an insurance run in the sixth as well to hold off South Border. Junior Koby Duda hit a two-run blast in the fourth, his first of the season to start the scoring for the Black Sox. Kaden Jensen went six innings on the hill and Nick Berglund collected the save in the seventh, striking out one and leaving a runner stranded.

No. 3 Kidder County 10 No. 4 Midkota 0, 6 innings

The Wolves allowed just one hit in game two and sent nine batters to the plate in both the first and fifth to take down the Mustangs in six innings. Blake Pfaff did it all at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a home run, two singles, and two runs driven in. Grant Pfaff picked up the win on the hill, going 3.1 innings without allowing a hit and striking out five. Jayden Rath went an inning and two-thirds to start the game, striking out five. Kidder County totaled eight hits and walked it off in the sixth with a single into right field that scored Jace Lowman.
