JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown High School soccer team wrapped up its regular season over the weekend and now prepares for a state qualifier game on Thursday against Bismarck High.
The Jays ended their regular season with a 5-4-3 record and 18 total points for fourth place in the WDA. #4 Jamestown will now face #5 Legacy at 4 pm at Bismarck St. Mary’s with the winner qualifying for the state tournament. Minot and Mandan will play at 8 pm to determine the WDA Champion.
Junior Haley Nelson was the leader in goals and points this season with six goals and nine total points. Sara Sletto led Jamestown in assists with four on the year, and the freshman also had four goals.
Sophie McClean, Breanna Oettle, and Hannah Murchie have all tallied three goals for Jamestown, and McClean also finished the regular season with a pair of assists.
Olivia Sorlie and Leah Torres have split time in goal, with Sorlie having the slight advantage in saves this season at 57 compared to 52 for Torres. Sorlie has recorded three shutouts in 2021 and Torres has one.
With a win on Saturday, Jamestown would advance to the state tournament beginning next Thursday, June 3rd, in Grand Forks and running until June 5th.
