TOLNA, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The Blacksox of Sheyenne/New Rockford held the Mustangs hitless through 5 1/3 innings on Thursday afternoon in the first round of the Region 3 Baseball Tournament and won the contest 2-1. No. 5 SNR improves to 9-9 overall, No. 4 Midkota/Dakota Prairie/Lakota/Griggs County Central drops to 7-10 overall.

SNR scored one run in the third and fifth innings. The Mustangs got their first hit of the ballgame in the bottom of the sixth inning when Brody Berg hit a single, and later scored when Garret Haakenson knocked him in. SNR used four pitchers, Koby Duda worked four innings, Evan Ulrich an inning, Johnny Grann a third of an inning and Alex Harrison an inning and two-thirds. Duda picks up the victory. For the Mustangs, Cole Hendrickson suffers the loss, working all seven innings. Ulrich was 3-for-3 at the plate for the Blacksox, with three singles.
