DICKINSON, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The Blue Jays softball team dropped a pair of games on Tuesday evening at Dickinson, 11-1 and 7-3, as the Midgets earned the WDA regular season title.

Jenna Fischer went 4-for-6 in the two games with three home runs but it wasn’t enough as the rest of the Jamestown bats struggled against the top team in the West. Dickinson scored four runs off of Katie Falk in the first inning before putting up seven in the fifth to mercy rule Jamestown in game one. Falk went 4.1 innings in the circle and surrendered six earned runs.

Jamestown took an early 1-0 lead in game two and Payton Gall struck out eight but the Jays didn’t slow down the Midgets for long as Dickinson scored two in the third and three in the fourth to go in front 5-1. Falk picked up an RBI in game two with a 2-for-4 performance and Fischer had two home runs in the second game but Dickinson outpaced Jamestown on offense.

Jamestown is now the four seed heading into the WDA tournament with an overall record of 18-9 and a 13-5 conference record. The Jays will play in the opening round of the WDA tournament next Thursday, May 27th, at 5 pm in Minot against the five seeded Magicians. All tournament games will be held in Minot for the 2021 tournament.
