SIOUX CITY, IA. (NewsDakota.com) – Eight different University of Jamestown baseball players earned All-Conference awards on Tuesday as announced by the Great Plains Athletic Conference.

Senior Aaron Pugh was named First Team All-GPAC after posting a 1.74 ERA during the 2021 season. Pugh pitched in 19 games, picking up six saves and striking out 28 batters. Chase Hacker earned a GPAC Gold Glove in center field, playing in 51 games for Jamestown and not committing one error on 82 chances.

Luke Shekeyrk and Dru Fitz made the All-GPAC second team for the Jimmies. Shekeyrk was the second-team designated hitter after leading Jamestown in home runs with 13 and slugging .681. Shekeyrk also had a .327 batting average and an on-base percentage of .420.

Fitz led UJ starters in wins with a 6-3 record and ERA at 3.18. The senior recorded 76 strikeouts in 73.2 innings pitched and only walked 14 total batters during the season.

Brice Foster, Austin Pesicka, Lincoln Trujillo, and Grant Okawa were named GPAC Honorable Mentions for the 2021 year. Foster’s .377 batting average was best on the Jamestown roster, and Trujillo and Okawa also hit above the .300 mark. Pesicka went 4-1 with an ERA of 3.54.

The Jimmies wrapped up its season with a 30-23 overall record, reaching 30 wins for the 11th consecutive season. Jamestown reached the bracket championship at Doane before eventually losing to the Tigres and being bounced from the GPAC postseason.
