(NAFB) – The Farmer Veteran Coalition recently turned 12 years old in 2021.
The national non-profit organization helps veterans pursue careers in agriculture. Natalie Monroe is the communications director with the coalition, and she says the mission is twofold.
She says veterans have already served their country once, and now they are serving their communities by producing food. Returning veterans typically are either coming back to family farms or starting their own. Either way, Monroe says they often face big challenges in starting their agriculture careers.
Returning veterans often come home carrying scars, and many have told FVC that there’s something “therapeutic” about a career in agriculture.
Monroe talks about where to go for more information.
