GRAND FORKS, ND. (newsdakota.com) The Valley City Hi-Liners Varsity Boys’ Golf Team was in action Tuesday afternoon for a conference tournament at Grand Forks Country Club.

Senior four-bag Blake Triebold led the team with a 90 in his first varsity tournament of the season. Senior one-bag Derek Bear also shot sub-100 with a 98 following up his 99-84 performance over the weekend. Junior two-bag Eric Ingstad shot a 104, sophomore three-bag Ethan Bear shot a 123, sophomore five-bag Alex Rogelstad shot a 118, and senior six-bag Jonah Schuldheisz shot a 131.

The Hi-Liners finished 10th of 10 with a 410, but head coach Trevar Hansen is optimistic about the team’s performance. Hansen said, “I know we can shoot under 400, but we will have to get everyone on the same page. With the addition of Blake to the roster I believe we can shoot below 380. Our goal right now is to shoot below 400 and then work from there. We need to continue to improve individually and as a team.”

The golf team is resumes conference play with a tournament at Fargo Country Club on Monday, May 17th.
