Elverna Becker, 90, died peacefully on May 10, 2021 at Sheyenne Care Center in Valley City, ND.

Elverna was born April 8, 1931 in Wimbledon, ND. She was the daughter of Art and Freda Oglesby. She married Clifford Becker on November 3, 1948 and they made their home on a farm near Dazey, ND where they raised six children. Elverna was a full time wife and mother.

Elverna was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Dazey; currently a member at St. Catherine’s Church, Valley City and was involved in community organizations. She always maintained a large garden on the farm and was well known for her baking abilities, especially for her pies, pastries and freshly baked bread. Elverna was a lover of practical jokes involving her precious sisters and no one was safe on April Fool’s Day, especially Cliff.

Elverna is survived by her children, Carol (Jerry) Moritz of Valley City, Kevin (Janell) Becker of Dazey, Connie (Greg) Urness of Cando, ND, Mark (Laura) Becker of Valley City and Colleen (Dan) Werkhoven of Valley City. Elverna is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.

Elverna was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford, of 50 years who passed away in 1999, her son Larry and her two grandsons, Robert and Shanon. Her siblings also preceded her in death, Douglas, Frances, Norman, Rose, Art and Ardella.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am Monday, May 17, 2021 at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church, Valley City. Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 pm Sunday at Oliver-Nathan Funeral Chapel, Valley City and will continue one hour before the service at the church on Monday. Burial will be in Memory Gardens, Valley City.

Memorials may be designated to St. Catherine’s Alter Guild or the Sheyenne Care Center Cottage.
