JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown/Stutsman Development Corporation (JSDC) New Business Attraction Committee heard requests for Flex PACE funding Wednesday.

The committee first discussed the need for more Flex PACE as the program has continued to gain popularity. The program allows communities the ability to provide assistance to businesses that do not meet the primary sector definition of PACE, or Partner in Assisting Community Expansion.

JSDC Business Development Director Corry Shevlin informed the committee that if both projects to be discussed were approved, it would put them over the $250,000 given by the County and City.

The request would be $200,000 from the city and $50,000 from the county.

Jamestown Mayor Dwaine Heinrich stated some concerns with contributing more money for Flex PACE.

After discussion, it was decided that the committee would request another $250,000 for the program, but take a look at the criteria for distributing the funds in the future. That motion was passed.

The committee heard a request from Oviatt LLC for funding to build a new events facility for catered events and weddings. Sheldon Oviatt informed the committee of his plans.

The requested amount was $85,714.31 and was moved for approval by the committee.

Another request was considered by KC Motorsports Inc. for funds to purchase Stutsman Harley Davidson and the property.

Shevlin says the purchase would be “sizeable.”

The purchase would also bring Polaris into Jamestown. It was recommended to fund the full $85,714.31 in Flex PACE for the project.
