JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Elks Lodge #995 has a proud tradition of holding events for the Anne Carlsen Center for Children.

Typically, the event consists of a day where the children go and enjoy a movie at our local movie theater with a pizza party to follow. Like all other community-based projects this year, everyone’s safety and wellbeing under COVID-19 is our main priority. Elks lodge #995 unfortunately had to make the decision to void the event for the children this year due to the pandemic, but came together and chose to benefit the children in another way to meet pressing needs.

“We hope the Anne Carlsen Center can use these funds for classroom supplies throughout this school year and going into the extended learning sessions this summer, to fulfill a positive impact in a different way,” Clay Greenwood, Leading Knight of #995 stated.

Beacon Grants offer Lodges a chance to develop an ongoing, charitable Elks-driven community project. This gives Lodges the opportunity to do something new or expand on an existing charitable project.

“Thank you, Clay, Melanie and Melissa and the members of Elks Lodge #995,” Anne Carlsen Center CEO Tim Eissinger stated. “We are so honored to receive the Elks Beacon grant this year, and very humbled by your generosity. This pandemic has taken many things away from us this past year, but it has not been able to take away the passion, heart and soul of the members of Elks Lodge #995 who give to help make other’s lives better.

“The Anne Carlsen Center is so blessed to be located in Jamestown and we have so appreciated our long relationship with Elks Lodge #995,” Eissinger added. “A special shout-out to my sister-in-law, Deb Weatherly-Eissinger and to Judy Kulla who signed our Beacon Grant check. As many of you know, Judy Kulla had a major hand in helping Anne Carlsen grow and develop into the life-changing organization it is today.”

Melissa Mikkelson, Loyal Knight of #995, added that they are proud to serve the Buffalo City.
