VALLEY CITY, N.D. (vcsuvikings.com) – VCSU junior Riley Perryman has been selected as the NAIA Softball National Player of the Week, the NAIA office announced Tuesday.
A native of Cottage Grove, Minn., Perryman earned the national honor after putting together a monster week at the plate. Perryman batted .727 and hit four home runs over VCSU’s five games last week. She also had a .733 on-base percentage, scored eight runs, drove in eight runs and recorded a 1.818 slugging percentage.
Perryman hit two of those home runs in a 7-4 win over Waldorf, including a tie-breaking three-run home run in the bottom of the fifth inning.
It is Perryman’s first NAIA National Player of the Week award. Last week, teammate Emily Smith was named the NAIA Pitcher of the Week.
For the season, Perryman is now batting .395 with a team-high 11 home runs and 39 RBIs. She ranks seventh in the NAIA in RBIs per game (1.26) and is eighth in home runs per game (.355).
